The Konongo deanery of Konongo-Mampong Catholic diocese in the Ashanti Region has donated some building materials worth Two Thousand Ghana Cedis to the St. Mary Catholic Girls Senior High School at Konongo in the Asante Akyem.
The items included five packets of roofing sheets and five boxes of roofing nails and felt.
Present to do the donations on behalf of the deanery were the Dean of the deanery Rev. Fr. Daniel Fosu who is also the parish priest of Odumase- Asante Akyem Central; Rev. Fr. Isaac Nsiah, the Co-cathedral Administrator, Konongo; Rev. Fr. Douglas Appiah– the assistant priest of Odumase and the financial secretary of the deanery; Rev. Fr. Derek Ansah Boateng– assistant co-cathedral administrator.
Fr Daniel Fosu, Dean of the Konongo Catholic Deanery explained that the donation was in attempt to respond to some of the numerous challenges the school was encountering in the area of infrastructure development.
He disclosed that the only Catholic girls’ Senior High School in the Konongo Mampong Catholic it was time for the Church to support the school to overcome its infrastructure challenges.
He said the gesture was in a respond a request the school authorities put before the deanery some months ago.
Fr. Fosu stated that the items were to helping roofing an uncompleted staff residence to help house some staff members.
The headmistress, Mrs. Alice Martha Agyei with her accountant received the items with gratitude.
She said the items came at the right time, since they needed to roof that building to house some staff members to help in monitoring and supervising the students, when they returned from Covid 19 break.
